Firstly, here is a word to the wise.......

LET A PROFESSIONAL MEASURE UP FOR YOUR CARPET!! You will get the right amount of carpet and save yourself a few pounds by preventing over ordering! But if you insist on measuring up yourself, we have come up with a handy little guide to help you get it right!

To measure for carpet, first measure the length and width of the room at its widest points. Then, calculate the total square footage by multiplying the length by the width. Add a few inches to your measurements for extra material, and consider the standard widths of carpet rolls (usually 4 or 5 meters) when ordering.

Detailed Steps:

Measure the Length and Width:

Use a measuring tape to determine the longest and widest points of the room, including any alcoves or doorways.

Calculate the Area:

Multiply the length by the width to get the square footage or square meters of the room.

Account for Waste and Extras:

Add extra material (e.g., 10cm) to your measurements to account for cutting, fitting, and any room irregularities.

Consider Carpet Widths:

Most carpet rolls come in widths of 4 or 5 meters. Determine if your room is wider than these standard widths to see if a join will be needed.

Double-Check and Verify:

Always double-check your measurements to ensure accuracy and minimize any potential errors. Don't skip this one!!!!!!

Use a Carpet Calculator:

Many online carpet retailers have calculators to help you determine the exact amount of carpet needed. This can save you a lot of headaches later on!

Tips for Accurate Measurement:

Measure at the Widest Points: Ensure you're measuring the room's maximum length and width.

Measure into Alcoves and Doorways: Include any recessed areas or doorways in your measurements.

Measure Multiple Times: Double-check your measurements to minimize errors. Check again, and again (and again).

Use a Calculator: Use a calculator to avoid any human error in your calculations. Unless you're Rachel Riley or Carol Vorderman then you should be OK.

Consider Consulting a Professional: If you're unsure or if the room is complex, consider having a professional carpet fitter measure the room. It's what we do and we ae very good at it.

We will always double check measurements for you so it's probably easier to let us do it first time! We will factor in things like pile direction and patterns to make sure that you have enough carpet so that everything matches up.
